Landscaper, Tom Windle, based in Wiltshire, took on a large-scale renovation project involving a four-bed semi-detached property in North Wiltshire. The objective was to create an attractive, modern home to put on the market, with the aim of achieving a profitable resale.

Full Renovation for a New Homeowner

The renovation required a complete interior strip-out, allowing Tom to rebuild the home from the ground up. He also set out to redesign the garden space, which included transforming a neglected annex that resided in the corner of the plot. Initially reaching out to SAM for interior MDF mouldings, Tom was pleasantly surprised to discover that SAM also offered a comprehensive stock range of exterior products, including exterior decorative cladding, fascia, and soffit, ideal for enhancing the outdoor elements of the project.

Upgrading the Outdoor Space

The original annex building stood neglected, with weathered brickwork, a damaged roof, and an overgrown garden filled with weeds and leftover debris. Transforming this space required a complete garden redesign, a structural and aesthetic overhaul of the annex building, as well as a full interior fit out. Tom knew that cladding the annex would create the perfect focal point for this garden, as well as giving the new homeowners a practical and versatile outdoor space.

Materials that Stand the Test of Time

When it came to sourcing the cladding, fascia and soffit material, there were a few non-negotiables to guarantee the best finish for this project. Tom needed a solution that combined visual appeal with durability and long-term stability. SAM Trimax delivered on all fronts.

Manufactured using MEDITE TRICOYA EXTREME, this cladding, fascia and soffit provides exceptional resistance to rot and decay, with a 50-year lifespan meaning minimal maintenance with a superior finish. The SAM Trimax product range also offers a sustainable, eco-friendly alternative to other materials. Made from Accoya chips sourced from FSC certified sustainable forests, it is more environmentally friendly compared to the likes of plastic, composite and cement-based cladding.

The versatility of the cladding made it the standout product, available either primed for a custom finish or in a selection of pre-finished colours to streamline installation and eliminate on-site painting. SAM Trimax cladding proved the perfect choice for a sleek, modern look that would be the focal point of the garden.

Double Shiplap MDF Exterior Cladding

“I chose the Double Shiplap cladding profile, each board looks as though it is two smaller boards interlocked with each other to give you a seamless finish.” Tom explained.

SAM Trimax Double Shiplap Cladding features a distinctive double shiplap profile, scalloped at the top to fit seamlessly into the rebate of the board below, creating a natural shadow line for a finish that is sleek and unified.

Available both primed and fully finished, in popular RAL colour options like Silk Grey, Traffic White and Anthracite Grey, the range offers a variety of styles to suit different project needs.

Opting for fully finished Anthracite Grey, Tom added, “The Anthracite colour against the natural greens in the garden really makes it pop.”

Why Choose SAM Trimax Exterior Cladding

When asked why he chose SAM Trimax for the project, Tom’s response was clear: “If anyone has ever done any exterior cladding before, you’ll know that cement board and composite cladding can be an absolute nightmare to work with,” he said, “It’s hard to cut, brittle, and it’s quite easy to damage the edges by accident.”

Tom spoke on how installing SAM Trimax was straightforward, making it an ideal choice for both professionals and DIY enthusiasts aiming for a professional finish. The boards are lightweight and easy to handle, and when paired with Accoya battens and stainless-steel fixings, they allow for a smooth, hassle-free installation that lasts.

Installing SAM Trimax fascia and soffit was a similar experience for Tom. These high-performance boards are designed to safeguard and enhance the roofline, providing a protective barrier against weather exposure. Supplied fully finished in Traffic White, Tom was able to install the fascia and soffit with ease without any further finishing.

“SAM Trimax is easy to work with; it’s nice and user-friendly, so a great option for exterior buildings,” he adds.

The result is a premium, low-maintenance cladding, fascia and soffit solution that performs exceptionally and looks impressive too.

If the Double Shiplap cladding profile isn’t the right fit for your project, SAM Trimax is also available in a Double Tongue and V-Groove option. This sleek profile features a clean tongue-and-groove design with a V-joint, ideal for creating a modern, consistent finish.

Both cladding profiles are available in a range of fully finished colour options, Silk Grey, Traffic White, and Anthracite Grey, as well as a primed Silk Grey finish for those who prefer a custom colour choice. They also come in a variety of sizes, making them suitable for a wide range of project requirements.

Would you recommend SAM?

When asked if Tom would recommend SAM Trimax to others, he answered, “This is by far the best cladding I’ve ever worked with.”

“It was packed up and delivered with such care and attention to detail. I love it. In my opinion, this looks way better than the composite and cement board alternatives, and it is so easy to work with.”
