SAM were proud to be a part of this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show, where award-winning designer Jo Thompson created The Glasshouse Garden featuring SAM Trimax.
The Power of Second Chances with The Glasshouse GardenÂ
Created by award-winning designer, Jo Thompson (Architect, Hollaway Studios), The Glasshouse Garden celebrates the transformative power of second chances through horticulture. The Glasshouse is a social enterprise which offers second chances to female prisoners reaching the end of their prison sentence. The Glasshouse supports these women with horticultural training, employment and resettlement support.

SAM Trimax External CladdingÂ
The team chose SAM Trimax TG & V exterior cladding to create functional and aesthetic impact. The cladding was used to construct a storage structure and backdrop, finished in a bespoke paint colour to effortlessly tie in with the garden’s natural, earthy palette.
SAM Trimax’s brushed texture gave an overall natural wood effect, providing a premium, quality finish perfect for the show. This high-performing cladding was favoured for its durability, stability and ease of installation. With a 50-year lifespan on the board, the garden design has now been relocated post-show to a women’s prison in South England where it can continue to be enjoyed.
Functional External Cladding with Aesthetic AppealÂ
When it came to choosing the external cladding material, SAM Trimax ticked all the boxes for this project. The brushed texture finish ensured cohesion within its natural surroundings, while its durability made it the perfect solution for long-term use outdoors. SAM Trimax was an environmentally conscious choice compared to alternative materials, supporting the garden’s objective of renewal and sustainable rehabilitation.
Not only would this cladding look great for years to come, but it was also quick and simple to install, an essential factor for temporary show builds. The team were able to meet the show build deadline, without compromising on design or quality.
We are so proud to have been able to play a part in The Glasshouse Garden, highlighting our commitment to combining aesthetics, performance and sustainability in our products. The Glasshouse Garden was built to represent hope and the future, just as SAM Trimax creates spaces that are beautiful and built to last.
