What screws do I use?
The screw must be a decorative low-profile screw with a woodscrew thread, made of stainless-steel type A2 or A4 (EN 10088-1) quality or AISI type 304 or 316. A4 quality should be used in challenging environments and high exposure level applications. For more information, please see our technical guide.
What do I install the MEDITE TRIMAX cladding panel to?
It is recommended to install MEDITE TRIMAX to a subframe that can be fixed directly to the main frame by using brackets depending on the structure. The timber battens used for the subframe should be of the required durability of the application either naturally or by treatment. For further guidance, please see our technical guide.
What way can I install MEDITE TRIMAX?
The MEDITE TRIMAX boards can be installed horizontally or vertically. When installing the boards vertically, it is important to use a double subframe where horizontal fixing battens are fastened on vertical counter battens fixed to the main frame. Proper ventilation should be considered. For more information, please see our technical guide.
What is the maximum spacing between battens where MEDITE TRIMAX is fixed to?
The battens supporting MEDITE TRIMAX should be spaced at max. 400mm centres. The screws should be positioned into the centre of the battens. For further guidance, please see our technical guide.
What finishes does MEDITE TRIMAX come in?
Primed MEDITE TRIMAX comes coated with a high-quality light grey primer, ready to be painted in whatever colour the user desires. Fully finished options arrive fully painted, ready to be installed.
What is the difference between primed and fully finished products?
MEDITE TRIMAX products are available with both primed and fully finished options. The primed option features a single coat applied via vacuum coater on all four sides, while the fully finished version includes an additional spray-applied coat on the visible surfaces once installed.
What colours do the fully finished panels come in?
Fully finished panels are available in three colours: Traffic White, Anthracite Grey and Silk Grey.
What touch up paint do you recommend?
External grade paint.
What coating do you recommend?
MEDITE TRIMAX is compatible with most common coating systems, similar to wood, and can be finished with standard products. However, coatings must be free from Calcium Carbonate due to the substrate’s chemical composition. To prevent staining and discoloration, use a high-quality UV-resistant coating. For aesthetic purposes, it’s recommended to treat the edges with an end-grain sealer (white or transparent) before applying the final coat. Please note, coating formulations and application processes can vary by supplier. While MEDITE TRIMAX has an excellent compatibility record, we advise involving your coating supplier for expert guidance on product performance and application.
Do I need to paint the primed panel?
Yes. Primed MEDITE TRIMAX needs to be finished with a topcoat using an exterior graded paint. The paint manufacturer or supplier should be consulted to ensure the selected paint is compatible with primed MEDITE TRIMAX and the recommendation for painting should be followed.
If I cut the cladding panel, do I need to paint and or seal the cut edges?
In the case of fully finished MEDITE TRIMAX boards, any boards with cut edges for installation should be sealed using a suitable sealer or colour matching exterior grade paint.
In the case of primed MEDITE TRIMAX, for a neater finish, it is recommended to apply the finishing paint to the whole boards in a dry, dust free and ventilated environment. When all the boards are painted to the required finish then the boards should be installed as detailed in this document. Any cut edges then should be sealed with the same paint on dry surfaces and in a dry and ventilated environment.
How should MEDITE TRIMAX boards be stored and handled on site?
The storage area must be dry with adequate ventilation to prevent dampness.
Boards should be stored horizontally and elevated off the ground using dry bearers as supports.
Storage on site should be a minimum of 100mm above concrete flooring and 300mm above ground.
Individual bearers should be of equal thickness and have a minimum length equal to the width of the board.
Ensure all bearers are vertically aligned.
Care should be taken when stacking boards to ensure flush sides to minimise damage to protruding edges or over-hanging corners.
It is recommended to cover the boards to prevent wetting during storage on site.
How should I maintain MEDITE TRIMAX products?
All cladding, fascias & soffits must be inspected as soon as possible after assembly. Any damage to paint films or joints must be repaired immediately so as to prevent moisture penetration that could lead to early coating degradation.
After this, all joinery must be inspected annually. All cladding, fascias & soffits will require mininium cleaning with water and mild detergent using a sponge or brush to remove any algae and/or dirt from the painted surfaces, afterwards minor damage must be repaired immediately.
When complete repainting is deemed to be necessary, this should be carried out in accordance with instructions within the Technical Guide.
